NILAMBAZAR, Aug 4 - Veteran academician and senior Advocate Abdul Basit Chaudhury is no more. He expired on August 3 at Silchar Medical College Hospital. He was born on September 13, 1939 at Sutarkandi in Karimganj. Abdul Basit was the founder of Karimganj Law College, Fakirabazar AK Azad High School, Fakirabazar Studies and Cultural Association, among others.
He was the government pleader of Karimganj Sessions Court since 1992 till his death. He was also the president of Karimganj College Governing body, principal, Karimganj Law College from 2006 to 2014, Basha Sangrami of 1961, founder head master of AK Azad High School as well as president and secretary of District Bar Association.
