Abducted youth rescued

GUWAHATI, Oct 6 � Rohan Dutta, who was abducted from his house in Kahilipara on Monday night, was today rescued by Assam Police, who also managed to catch hold of the abductors from different parts of the State.

Investigation into the case has revealed that Parashar Das, a second year student of Biochemistry department of the Regional College of Science and Technology, was the one who had hatched the abduction plan.

Police said that Parashar Das, who used to stay in the neighbourhood of Dr Nilomoni Dutta, the victim's father, took help of the associates including Pranjit Lakhar, another student in carrying out the task.

Rohan Dutta, it needs mention, was abducted from his house by a group of miscreants who broke into the house located in Kahilipara.

Besides, Parashar and Pranjit, police also arrested several persons on charges of being involved in the abduction.

Those include Rafikul Islam (21), Chandan Daimary (22), Deb Basumatary (21), Sanghsu Daimary (22) and Mizing Daimary (19).

A senior Assam Police official informed that the rescue operation was carried out based on some specific information and based on the revelation of Parashar, the kingpin of the group, the investigation team zeroed in on the other members and the victim was also rescued from the house of Sangshu Daimary in Amguri.

A Bolero car was also recovered from their possession.
