Abducted trader rescued, 7 held

HAILAKANDI, March 11 - Raju Mishra of village Ramnathpur, who was kidnapped by a breakaway armed group of Bru Revolutionary Army Union (BRAU) cadres (under ceasefire) was rescued on Sunday, police said.

It may be mentioned here that the 32-year-old trader and resident of Kanchiwala village, Raju Mishra along with six other persons were going to Gutguti by a Bolero car on last Monday. In a place near Riflemarra and Gutguti, armed miscreants stopped the vehicle and kidnapped six persons, including Raju Mishra. When police intensified the operation on Monday, miscreants released five persons in the dense forest. No ransom has been demanded yet, police sources said.

Superintendent of Police, Pabindra Kumar Nath said Mishra has been safely rescued by the district police from remote Bagcherra-Riflemara area under Ramnathpur PS close to the inter-state border after continued strenuous combing operations in the deep jungles.

Nath said that in this connection, seven persons have been arrested.

Gutguti is around 70 kms away from Hailakandi town. Sources said that Raju Mishra started living in Ramnathpur village after marrying a girl of Reang community.
