Abducted minor boy in Silchar rescued

SILCHAR, Sept 8 - A 6-year-old minor boy was abducted from his residence in Fakirtilla near the National Institute of Technology here in the wee hours of Saturday.

However, police rescued the minor from an abandoned house nearby after a few hours of combing operation. An FIR was lodged by the child�s parents against Bishnu Nunia, a local resident.

According to Ashim Deb and Jhuma Deb, parents of the minor, their son, a student of Class-I at NIT KV was lifted from their residence at around 3:30 am after the kidnapper(s) entered by breaking the window.

�I saw the mosquito net abnormally arranged. However, because I was feeling drowsy, I did not realise that the damage was done. Later, when I heard screams at the far end of our house and the main door was left wide open, I found my son missing. Police was informed and we began searching,� Jhuma said.

Cachar SP Rakesh Roushan, Additional SP Rakesh Reddy along with officer in-charge of Ghungoor outpost Parag Hazarika rushed to the spot and search operation was conducted. Hours later, the child was recovered at around 6:30 am with his eyes covered and hands and legs tied with clothes from the bathroom of an abandoned house. Police informed that a tool used to break open the window was recovered from the spot.

�We are investigating the case and the accused will soon be arrested,� the SP said.

After the recovery, the minor was handed over to the parents.

�We want police to arrest Bishnu Nunia. He is the person behind this abduction. He is involved in many such crimes,� said Ashim and Jhuma. Local residents also echoed the parents views and demanded strict punishment be accorded to the accused.
