Abducted CCF, Forest Ranger released

DIPHU, March 6 � Abducted Chief Conservator of Forest (Hills) Abhijit Rabha along with Range Officer of Biodiversity, range, Diphu, Ranjan Barua, who were abducted by Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger (KPLT) militants, were released near National Highway-36 at Patradisa under Bakaliaghat police station in Karbi Anglong. According to police, Rabha and Barua were released by the abductors late on Monday night and they were rescued by the police of Bakaliaghat.

During a short interaction, Abhijit Rabha told this reporter that they are both fine and they were not tortured physically by the abductors. He thanked the media and said, �Major role played by the media helped them in getting early release from the clutches of abductors.�

On the other hand, replying the questions, Ranjan Boruah said that most of abductors were suspected to be surrendered militants. He clarified that involvement of KPLT outfit in this act can�t be ruled out. He reiterated that both of them were frequently shifted from one place to another, while they were in the captivity of the abductors. Subsequently, both of them were taken to the civil hospital in Diphu for treatment. It is learnt that Rabha has been suffering from diabetes.

It may be mentioned here that after few hours of State Government on Monday claiming Karbi Peoples Liberation Tiger (KPLT) militants were behind the abduction of the two forest officers, the abducted duo were released.
