AATSU alleges scholarship scam

GUWAHATI, Dec 14 - The All Assam Tribal Students� Union (AATSU) has resented the failure of the authorities concerned to disburse the past 15 years� scholarships meant for the tribal students of the State.

In a statement here, the AATSU has demanded immediate release of the scholarship amounts to the tribal students and demanded immediate intervention of the Chief Minister, the Governor and the Prime Minister in instituting an inquiry into the scam involving the non-disbursal of scholarships to tribal students for the past 15 years.

It alleged that the scam involves a sum to the tune of several thousand crores of rupees.

In the statement, the student body also stated that it would be compelled to move the United Nations if the State and the Central Governments fail to bring to book the guilty persons involved in the above scam.
