GUWAHATI, June 12 The All Assam Tea Tribes Students Association (AATSA) has alleged that six non-tea tribe community candidates names have featured in the list prepared by the authorities concerned for the 12 seats reserved for the tea garden labour (TGL) community students for admission to the States six medical colleges.

It has demanded urgent steps to correct the list and to institute a high-level inquiry as to how the names of non-tea tribe community students could appear in the list meant for the TGL community students.

AATSA president Prahlad Gowala told this newspaper that the names which were found to be of non-tea tribe community students are Sagar Nirola, Kazi Mohammad Kamarujan, Ranjib Kumar Ray, Alwyn Wilson Chal, Surabhi Pandey and Habibur Rahman SK. While there is no tea tribe surname as Nirola, Ray, Chal and Pandey, there is no follower of Islam too among the tea tribe communities of Assam, Gowala asserted.

He demanded immediate steps to replace the above names with the names of the genuine TGL community students and a high-level inquiry into this irregularity, besides calling for urgent steps to authorise an organisation of the tea garden labour communities with the power to issue the TGL certificates.
