AASU warns against rehabilitation move

By Correspondent

NAGAON, Nov 14 - The All Assam Students Union organised a satyagrah at the Nehrubali here on Friday against the recent move of the Centre to rehabilitate the Hindu Bengali people of Bangladesh in India. Thousands of people, besides the students and youth gathered at the venue and took part in the agitational programme.

AASU leaders including its advisor Samujjal Bhattacharya, State president Dipanka Nath, general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi besides district leaders were present at the programme. All the speakers vehemently opposed the Centres intention to grant citizenship to Bangladeshi Hindus, a move which contradict the provisions of the Assam Accord. There is no room in the Assam Accord to consider foreigners on the basis of religion, the speakers opined.

People of Assam will not allow the BJP and its allies to play vote bank politics in the next election. The PM in his Mann Ki Baat expresses his mind, but does not try to read the minds of the people. If this position does not change, then the people of Assam will teach him a lesson in the 2016 elections, like the people of Bihar did recently, the speakers added.
