NAGAON, Nov 21 - Demanding immediate withdrawal of the Union government�s bid to table the proposed Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), 2016 in the Lok Sabha in the coming winter session, the district unit of All Assam Students� Union (AASU) today took out a torch rally at the town.
Thousands of protesters and members of the unit shouted various slogans and also strongly criticised the bid of the Union government.�
The rally started from the office of the district unit of AASU and traversed through different prime locations of Nagaon town.
Torch rally at Udalguri: Along with the rest of the State, the Udalguri district committee of the All Assam Students� Union (AASU) brought out a massive torch rally this evening at Udalguri town to register its protest against the controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and raised slogans against the Central government for its initiative to table the same in the coming winter session of Parliament.
Along with the AASU members, representatives of thirty other student organisations and ethnic groups joined the rally and raised slogans against the controversial CAB.�
Reports of similar torch rallies were received from Tangla, Orang, Mazbat, Harisinga and Rowta of the district under the leadership of AASU.
