AASU to support higher studies of Dhemaji rank-holder

DHEMAJI, June 26 - Two meritorious students have brought laurels to flood-ravaged Dhemaji district by obtaining positions in the Higher Secondary final examination, 2020, in the Arts stream.

Sarat Saikia from Muchkhowa secured the 5th position, while Ankita Bhuyan from Sissiborgaon obtained the 10th position. Sarat, who appeared from Public Academy, Dhemaji, scored 471 marks, and Ankita, a student of Kiran Academy, got 467 marks.

The All Assam Students� Union (AASU), Dhemaji district committee, led by president Deepak Sarma and general secretary Kalyan Gogoi felicitated the meritorious students for their achievement.

Observing the poor economic background of Sarat, who lost his parents during childhood and was raised by his grandmother and other family members, the AASU has adopted him for supporting his higher studies.

As per AHSEC data, the success rates of Dhemaji district were 83.20 per cent in Arts stream, 91.42 per cent in Science stream and 88.69 per cent in Commerce stream.
