By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, Sept 9 - Decks have been cleared for the much anticipated political entry of the All Assam Students Union (AASU) and the Asom Jatiyatabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) with the AASU taking its 30 allied organisations into the loop ahead of formally announcing the launch of the political outfit.

AASU president Dipanka Kumar Nath today told The Assam Tribune that the student body would hold talks separately with each of the 30 organisations representing indigenous communities, tribal groups, student unions, etc., ahead of announcing a full-fledged regional political party in Assam.

The decision to hold separate sittings with members of the allied organisations over the political issue was taken in a meeting of AASU and 30 organisations held in Guwahati today.

The political outfit will get its final shape after the AASUs upcoming conferences scheduled in the last week of October this year. In todays meeting, it was decided that before the conference, we would exchange views with each of the indigenous bodies associated with us, Nath said.

In todays meeting, the AASU and 30 organisations demanded total implementation of the recommendations of the high level committee for implementation of the Clause 6 of the Assam Accord. The AASU had made public the high level committees report on August 11, 2020.

We also demand adequate compensation for the people affected in Baghjan oil well fire, peaceful settlement of interstate border disputes and withdrawal of draft Environmental Impact Assessment, 2020 notification, AASU general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi said.

The AASU and its allied organisations will form human chains in all district headquarters on September 25 in support of its demands.
