AASU team visits Kuldip Nayar�s home in Delhi

GUWAHATI, Aug 31 - A delegation of the All Assam Students� Union (AASU) today visited the residence of eminent journalist Kuldip Nayar in New Delhi and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family members. Nayar passed away on August 23 after a brief illness at the age of 95.

The AASU delegation recalled Nayar�s long association with Assam and the key role he played in highlighting the issue of cross-border infiltration from Bangladesh and the existential crisis triggered by the influx. He was also instrumental in attracting national attention to the Assam Agitation.

Nayar shared a special bond with the AASU since the time of the Assam movement and guided the students� body on several issues, besides giving a powerful voice to the concerns and issues of the State at the national and international levels.
