AASU stir for SEBA reforms continues

GUWAHATI, July 6 � The All Assam Students� Union (AASU)�s movement demanding educational reforms in SEBA and removal of the Board�s chairman Shantikam Hazarika continued for the third consecutive day today.

The AASU activists are demonstrating on the SEBA office premises in Bamunimaidam from July 4 and members of different district units of the students� body have joined the protest in Guwahati apart from continuing the protest at district levels.

A meeting of the State government and the students� body is scheduled for July 7 to discuss the issue further.

Meanwhile, the Save Guwahati Build Guwahati (SGBG) has also supported the demand for removal of SEBA chairman and sought the intervention of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi in this regard.

The AASU also asked the State government to nab all the culprits responsible for the death of Jhankar Saikia and give them severe punishment.

�We would never accept any further delay in punishing the guilty,� the AASU leaders said in a statement also demanding strong action against the police personnel present at the time of the incident.
