GUWAHATI, March 20 - The All Assam Students Union today staged demonstration across the State against the appointment scam in the Panchayat and Rural Development department and the Directorate of Information and Public Relations (DIPR).

Taking a strong exception to the appointment scam in the Government departments, the AASU has demanded a judicial probe into the scams so that the culprits are brought to book.

The students body warned that the Government must stop the black market of Government jobs in the interest of the unemployed youths.

Despite the irregularities, the State Government has not taken any drastic steps. Such an attitude is detrimental to the hopes and aspiration of the education unemployed of the State. The Government must live up to its commitment on zero-tolerance on corruption, a statement issued by the AASU said.
