RANGIYA, June 3 - The Batakuchi anchalik unit of AASU in Kamrup district here in collaboration with several student organisations staged a protest against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Supporters and the workers of the AASU took out a protest march in which leading citizens of the area took part and asked the Centre not to introduce the Bill.
Senior leaders of AASU, including Dhiraj Rajbongshi, Hemanta Das etc., spoke against the Bill on the occasion. Protestors later said that this is a ploy of the BJP-led government at the Centre to bring Bangladeshi Hindu people to the State that would definitely destroy the greater Assamese society.
