AASU remembers Bhupenda on 7th death anniversary

GUWAHATI, Nov 5 - The All Assam Students� Union (AASU) today observed the seventh death anniversary of Dr Bhupen Hazarika with a memorial function at Dighalipukhuripar.

The music maestro�s statue was garlanded and homage paid in the morning by several people, including AASU president Dipanka Nath, general secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi and chief adviser Dr Samujjal Bhattacharya.

In the evening, the banks of the Dighalipukhuri were lit by 10,000 earthen lamps as a tribute to Dr Hazarika. It was followed by a cultural function where young artistes sang evergreen numbers of the legend.

Our Jorabat Correspondent adds: Members of AASU�s Dimoria unit today paid tributes to the eminent poet, lyricist, musician and filmmaker on his seventh death anniversary.

Hundreds of fans and admirers of Dr Hazarika from Dimoria, led by Dipu Zena Sarma, adviser of the Dimoria unit, paid floral tributes to the music legend.

AASU Dimoria unit president Rintu Das along with several local people lit earthen lamps in the memory of the Sudhakantha.
