GUWAHATI, April 11 - The All Assam Students� Union (AASU) has offered its best wishes to the people of Assam on the occasion of Rongali Bihu and hoped that the citizens would be able to thwart the threat posed by coronavirus.
In a release here, AASU said that this year Rongali Bihu came at a time when the whole world is facing a major threat from COVID-19. It said in this hour of crisis, the people would have to observe Bihu by maintaining social distance. The student body said that all sections of people would have to support each other to fight the deadly disease.
The AASU also paid homage to the martyrs of the anti-Citizenship (Amendment) Act agitation on the occasion of Rongali Bihu.
The student body also called upon the government to take special measures for the benefit of farmers, daily wage workers and others who are suffering because of the lockdown.
