AASU memo to town committee

By CORRESPONDENT

GAURIPUR, Aug 28 The Gauripur Anchalik Chatra Santha, the regional unit of the All Assam Students Union (AASU), submitted a memorandum to the Executive Officer, Gauripur Town Committee on August 25 demanding reopening of the childrens park, installation of street lights and repairing of two important roads of the town.

It may be mentioned here that a year ago, the Dhubri-Gauripur Development Authority constructed the Gauripur childrens park and it was opened, but due to apathy of the municipal authority, the park was not run properly in subsequent time, leading to its closure, creating great resentment among the general public.

The municipal authority also failed to provide street lights in the main thoroughfares of the town causing great hardship to the people. The student unit demanded early improvement of the roads from Gauripur Girls High School to Gauripur Health Centre and from Baruapatty Kalibari to Lowkhowapar. The memorandum was signed by Shaha Alam SK, president and Pabitra Sarkar, secretary of the unit.
