AASU meet on improving education system held

JORHAT, Dec 15 - A meeting of all education secretaries of different regional units across the district under the Jorhat district AASU was held here on Sunday to discuss about the education scenario.

In the meeting, Jorhat district unit AASU president Bijoy Shankar Bordoloi asked the education secretaries to collect opinions from known educationists regarding ways to bring marked improvement in the education system.

Bordoloi further asked the office-bearers to gather information about the problems faced by the students in the schools and other educational institutes in the district. He also told them to create awareness about the new education policy of the Central Government, besides discussing the subject of unemployment among the students� community.

Education secretary of the Jorhat district unit of AASU Bidyut Bikash Baruah too spoke in the meeting. Later, it was decided that each regional unit of the students� body will organise one book fair, one workshop on career guidance and scholarship for students in schools of respective areas under the units.

The meeting also decided to organise study camps for students belonging to economically backward families in areas under the regional units of the students� body.

Further, the meeting resolved to organise coaching camps for students belonging to poor families for assisting in preparation for appearing in competitive examinations by the regional units across the district.
