By Correspondent

JAGIROAD, Aug 4 - A day after the announcement made by the State Industry Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary about the Centres decision to revitalise the two integrated mills of HPCL (NPM&CPM), a team of Morigaon district AASU including Jagiroad Anchalik AASU on Wednesday met the CMD of the HPCL during his visit to the Nagaon Paper Mill, Jagiroad to press upon him to take immediate steps for resumption of the production in the mill, which has remained suspended since May 21 last.

The CMD of the HPCL, Sachi Kant Jain, accompanied by SN Shathe, Director, (Operation) and Palash Goswami, Director, (Finance) assured the AASU team that the production in the NPM, Jagiroad will restart from Aug 6.

The AASU team accompanied by the district AASU president and secretary Mun Thakuria and Ghanendra Nath respectively, Jagiroad Anchalik AASU president Jitu Moni Pathak, AASU central executives Abanti Kumar Bora and Naba Nath including secretary, Asom Unnati Sabha, Atanu Sarma also urged the HPCL officials to shift the HPC HQ from Kolkata to Assam immediately.

The employees body and the Kagaj Nigam Karmi Union of NPM, Jagiroad also met the visiting CMD separately to press upon him to restart the production in the mill besides demanding immediate release of all outstanding dues like salaries of the employees, LIC payments, income tax and provident fund deductions etc.

It may be mentioned here that, a recent report regarding disinvestment of the HPCL mills has evoked great resentment among the employees of the two mills and, as a result of which, the State government has come forward to rescue the two projects from the present crisis by impressing upon the Centre for revitalisation of the units instead of privatising them.
