JORHAT, Sept 26 - AASU-backed candidates won seven posts of the students� union of Chandra Kamal Bezboruah Commerce College, a leading educational institute here, in the elections held on Tuesday.

The AASU-backed candidates defeated ABVP-backed candidates. The seven posts were of the president, vice president, general secretary, assistant general secretary, secretary of the students� common room, and editors of the Assamese and English magazines of the college.

AASU-backed candidates also won the posts of the cultural and debate secretaries uncontested.

After the results were declared, Jorhat district AASU unit�s assistant general secretary Bijoy Shankar Bordoloi and Jorhat regional unit of AASU Arjun Bhuyan visited the college and felicitated the winners with a gamosa.

Jul Khound, state organising secretary of AASU, in a press note, thanked the students of the college for giving the responsibility of leading the students� union by AASU-supported candidates and hoped that the new body will sincerely discharge its responsibilities to fulfill the expectations of the students.
