AASU-backed candidates sweep JB College Students� Union polls

JORHAT, Oct 25 - After AASU-backed candidates emerged victorious in the students� union elections held recently in two notable colleges, the students� body again swept the students� union polls at Jagannath Barooah College here which was held on Thursday.

AASU-backed candidate Nilav Krishna Dutta won the post of general secretary by defeating NSUI-backed candidate Aminibesh Khargharia. Voting was held only to the general secretary�s post as AASU-backed candidates won seven other posts uncontested.

After results of the elections were declared, the assistant general secretary of Jorhat district unit of AASU Bijoy Shankar Bordoloi visited the college and felicitated the winners with a gamusa.

Jul Khound, State organising secretary of AASU vide a press note thanked the students of the college for entrusting the responsibility of leading the students� union by AASU-supported candidates and hoped the new body will sincerely discharge their responsibilities to meet the high expectations of the students and look after their collective interests.

The president and general secretary of the Jorhat regional unit of AASU Arjunmani Bhuyan and Pratha Pratim Bora respectively congratulated the winners and hoped that the new union body will put in their best for the betterment of the students.

It may be mentioned here that AASU-backed candidates recently won majority in the polls held for various posts of students� unions at Jorhat College (amalgamated) and Chandra Kamal Bezboruah Commerce College here.
