AASAA slams govts; warns massive stir

GUWAHATI, Feb 13 � The central executive committee meet of the All Adivasi Student Association of Assam (AASAA) was held in Guwahati today.

The meeting strongly condemned the state and central governments for the delay to schedule the Adivasis of Assam in Schedule Tribe (ST) list and warned both the governments that it will launch a massive agitational programme if the Adivasis are not scheduled at the earliest.

The meeting also decided to continue to demand Rs 330 as daily wage for the tea garden workers for which district-level dharna programme will be held on February 27 at each Deputy Commissioner office, followed by statewide cycle rally in each tea garden on March 9.

The meeting decided to keep in suspension the 12th Adivasi Mahasabha 2015 which was scheduled to be held at Kokrajhar from March 20 in the wake of the forthcoming BTAD election.

The meeting also decided to have 18th central AASAA annual conference on March 21 and 22 in Sonitpur.
