HAILAKANDI, Nov 5 - �Latent talent is lurking in remote and rural areas of the district and unearthing their talent through mentoring and guidance is the need of the hour,� said Hailakandi Deputy Commissioner Moloy Bora while launching �Aarohan� a new noble initiative of the Government of Assam.
As part of this programme, to begin with, Deputy Commissioner Bora took the initiative to mentor three students initially. �I also appeal to the IAS, IPS, ACS, APS officers to mentor at least two students each,� he said.
Following his appeal, senior officials of the administration have taken upon the role of mentors by taking two-three students into their fold. ADC, Ruth Lienthang, ADC, FR Laskar, Senior Planning Officer, R Das and a host of officials have come forward to take up the noble task.
The Deputy Commissioner said the innovative and noble programme aims at inculcating positive mindset and temperament among the youth hailing from rural areas and interior places and making them able citizens and most importantly good human beings. �Mentoring of the talent of rural youth is the need of the hour,� said Bora adding, �We have to take time out of our busy schedule to bring light to the poor � the light of knowledge � and show them the righteous way of life to becoming good human beings.�
Asking the students to come forward, Bora said, �I shall guide you for the next three-four months, so also my colleagues all the way. It will be on the lines of �guru-shishya parampara�.
The Deputy Commissioner exuded the optimism that AAROHAN will not only give a new sense of direction and impetus to the hidden talent to blossom in life but also raise the personality of the mentors in doing so by adding an element of spirituality in their profession.
