Aaranyak donates vehicle to KNP

KAZIRANGA, March 6 - Aaranyak, a leading NGO which has been working for the cause of wildlife protection and conservation, has donated a vehicle in association with the International Rhino Foundation to the Kaziranga National Park yesterday.

Speaking on the occasion at Forest Divisional office at Bokakhat, Bibhab Talukadar, secretary general of Aaranyak, said that there was an immediate requirement of vehicles to gear up patrolling inside the park to check poaching activities, and accordingly he had raised the issue with the International Rhino Foundation which had agreed to donate three vehicles to Kaziranga National Park in association with Aaranyak.

One Maruti Gypsy was donated to the Kaziranga Forest department at Bokakhat and remaining two would be delivered soon, said Talukadar.

Expressing satisfaction with the initiative of Aranyak, Kaziranga DFO Rohini Saikia said the new vehicle would help boost patrolling inside the park.

CC Shephard, Deputy Director of International Rhino Foundation said that they would definitely look forward to help the park authorities.

It may be recalled that Aaranyak has been donating different equipment and materials, including wireless sets to the Kaziranga National Park for the past several years. The NGO also takes part in carrying out tiger census through camera trapping system in association with the Kaziranga National Park.
