Itanagar, Aug 30 (PTI): The All Arunachal Pradesh Students' Union (AAPSU) today welcomed a decision by a student organisation from Assam to lift the economic blockade imposed on the State.
AAPSU, which reached out to the All Assam Students' Union (AASU) through the North East Students' Organisation to end the blockade, expressed hope that people living along the boundary will now be able to live in peace.
In a statement, AAPSU president Takam Tatung hailed the goodwill gesture by the AASU Sibsagar district unit and requested the people to respect the sentiments of those living on the other side of the boundary.
"We should not let people with vested interests destroy the bonhomie between the people of the two States," Tatung said.
AASU and other organisations were protesting against violence by miscreants backed by the NSCN-IM in the district.
