AAP fears attempts to mislead BTAD probe

By STAFF REPORTER

GUWAHATI, May 13 The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Assam, today demanded of the government to extend full protection to the witnesses of the BTAD massacre and to follow a scientific line of investigation so that the perpetrators of the dastardly act are booked immediately and given stringent punishment.

The party, while expressing its apprehension that attempts would be made to mislead the investigation, insisted on an inquiry by a Supreme Court judge as well.

Words simply fail to describe the brutality that was perpetrated in the BTAD areas. Children were mercilessly killed and thrown into the Beki river, said Pranjal Bordoloy, convenor of AAP.

A team from the AAP visited the BTAD areas a couple of days back and interacted with the affected families. Bhaben Handique, joint convenor, who was with the team, said that the affected families have the apprehension that the investigation might be misled.

The AAP has called for rehabilitation of the affected people, sheltered in the relief camps and said that all illegal arms in the BTAD areas must be seized at the earliest.

On the other hand, the party said that confidence must be instilled among the non-Bodos and concerted efforts must be undertaken to build unity and amity amongst all the communities in the BTAD areas.

It needs to be mentioned here that the party is going to organize a national meet in the city on the BTAD issue and its solution.
