AAMSU calls Assam bandh on Nov 26

BARPETA, Nov 24 � The All Assam Minority Students� Union has strongly condemned the remarks by BJP leader and Rajya Sabha Member Dr Subramanian Swamy that people of the Muslim community will be provided security only if they convert themselves to Hindu. In a press release issued here today, AAMSU president Mahmud Hassan and secretaries Rahul Amin and Roushan Ali demanded before Prime Minister Narendra Modi to control the leaders who resort to cheap politics in the name of religion.

The release stated that AAMSU honours all religious faiths equally and warned all those who mix politics with religion. The organisation demanded deportation all illegal migrants as par the Assam Accord, irrespective of their religious affiliation. The AAMSU called for a 12-hour Assam bandh from 6 am on November 26 demanding his arrest.

Swamy�s effigy burnt: The Barpeta district unit of the Garia Maria Deshi Jatiya Parishad burnt the effigy of Dr Subramanian Swamy here today protesting his recent remarks on Muslims and the Assam Accord.

The ABMSU also burnt an effigy of the BJP leader at Kalpani for the same reasons.
