AAI to develop Zoo under CSR prog

GUWAHATI, Aug 28 - The Assam State Zoo Cum Botanical Garden will be developed with an expenditure of Rs 2.3 crore. The fund will be provided by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) under its corporate social responsibility programme.

Under the project, works like laying of cables, lighting and construction of visitors� footpath will be carried out.

State Chief Secretary TY Das today laid the foundation stone for the project. She said that 30 years back when she had started her service career, the State Zoo was the only �amusement institute� in the city. She advised the Zoo authority to visit other zoos of the country and develop the Guwahati Zoo accordingly. Principal Chief Conservator of Forest NK Baso, Kamrup (M) DC Virendra Mittal, General Manager of AAI Radha Krishna, District Development Commissioner of Kamrup (M) Dr Bijoya Choudhury and DFO of State Zoo Tejash Mariswami were also present at the programme.
