A Bezbaruah memorial art contest held

GUWAHATI, Feb 1 � The first-ever Aswinee Bezbaruah memorial children�s on-the-spot art competition was successfully organised today under the aegis of leading socio-cultural organisation of Jorhat, Enajori, at Bezbaruah Toal, Choladhora, Jorhat, a press release said.

Around 115 children took part in the competition, which was held in three groups.

In group A (from Class-V to VII), Priyam Kishore Dutta, Class-V, Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Jorhat, won the first prize; Nur Pratyashi, Class-V, Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Jorhat, won the second prize; and Chinmoy Deuri, Class-VI, bagged the third prize.

The first, second and third prize winners in group B (from Class-II to IV) are Ashutosh Bora, Class-IV, Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Jorhat; Kangkana Dutta, Class-IV, Jonaki Sangha, Jorhat; and Olivia Bora, Class-IV, Baghchung Don Bosco.

The top three winners in group B (from Nursery level to Class-I) are � Abhigyata Gogoi, Class-I, Baghchung Don Bosco; Liana Dutta, Class-I, Baghchung Don Bosco; and Ritwika Pal, Upper KG, Rhino Army Pre-primary School.

The prizes along with certificates were distributed among the winners after the competition. Artist Shyamali Chaliha Dutta acted as the judge.

A popular citizen of Jorhat, Aswinee Bezbaruah passed away in December last at the age of 51, the release added.
