9th biennial State conference of ASPWU

NAMRUP, June 14 - The 9th biennial state conference of Assam State Power Workers' Union was held at the Namrup Thermal Power Station with a three-day long programme from June 9 to 11.

The first day�s programme began with the inauguration/opening of the representative camp by Tileswar Borah, general secretary, NFSU.

On the second day, the programme began at 8:30 am with the hoisting of flag by Ajay Rajkonwar, president, Assam State Power Workers� Union which was followed by swahid tarpan done by Brojen Bori, executive president, ASPWU. Thereafter, the tree plantation programme was initiated by Jiten Baruah, general secretary, ASPWU. A cultural procession was also brought out to mark the occasion. The representative meet was held at 11 am. The open session was held at 2 pm under the chairmanship of Ajay Rajkonwar, president, ASPWU in the presence of notable dignitaries. Baij Nath Singh, secretary, Nikhil Bharat Bidyut Karmi Maha Sangha and Subash Sen, State secretary, Nikhil Bharat Trade Union Co-ordination Samiti graced the occasion as the special guests.

It may be added that a felicitation ceremony was also held during the said session to felicitate the students who showed excellent results in the last HS and HSLC exams. A souvenir Hungkar was also brought out to mark the occasion. The three-day programme concluded with the subject committee meeting held at 8 am on the concluding day.
