94 pc of allotted funds spent in 2010-11: Sangma

SHILLONG, April 20 (PTI): Meghalaya Chief Minister Mukul Sangma today said the state was able to spend 94.3 per cent of total funds of the annual plan during 2010-11, a quantum jump in terms of statistics compared to previous years.

Releasing his performance report on completing the first year as Chief Minister today, Sangma said in the previous fiscal the state could spend only 67 per cent of the available funds.

"The approved outlay for Meghalaya during Annual Plan 2010-11 was Rs 2230 crore which included Rs 400 crore of Special Plan Assistance, was an increase of 34 per cent over the revised outlay of 2009-10," he said.

Stressing on the need for quality potable water, Sangma said the Public Health Engineering department has been able to provide 380 habitations, 182 schools and 35 ICDS centres with adequate safe water under the Rural Water Supply Programme
