9 wild life smugglers held at Nagaon

NAGAON, Sept 19 - In a routine raid, a Nagaon police team led by Sub-Inspector A Rahman, officer in-charge of Haiborgaon Police Outpost, arrested nine smugglers of wild species and also seized one rare kind of gecko lizard, a weight machine and one measurement tap from a car without a number plate. The wild species was being trafficked in the vehicle towards an unknown destination.

According to sources, the arrested smugglers have been identified as Theang Teron, Verang Terang of Karbi Anglong, Dilip Tanti of Nagaon�s Jakhalabandha, Saidur Rahman, Moinul Haque (27) Moinul Haque (44) of Kaki in Hojai district, Mofizuddin Ali of Kaliabor, Nobi Hussain and Nur Hussain of Jakhalabandha area.

Sources claimed here that the police patrolling team during the routine raid on Saturday morning stopped the vehicle on suspicion and when the police checked the vehicle they found one rare kind of gecko lizard, a weight machine and one measurement tape from the vehicle.

Police picked up all the nine persons who were inside the vehicle and brought them to Haiborgaon Police Outpost. During interrogation, police were confirmed that the gang of smugglers were trafficking the gecko lizard towards an unknown destination outside the district.

Police registered a case in this regard and has started further investigation.
