BARPETA, Sept 30 - Eight nominations were filed today on the penultimate day for filing of nominations for the 44 Jania Assembly Constituency, the by-election of which is scheduled on October 21 next. With this the total nominations received for this election rose to nine.
The eight candidates who filed their nomination today are � Taufiqure Rahman (BJP), Rofiqul Islam (AIUDF), Samsul Haque (INC), Rustam Ali (CPI(M)), Chand Mahammad (NPP), Abdul Jalil Talukdar (Ind.), Rafikul Islam (Democratic Party of India) and Subhash Sutradhar (Ind.). One candidate Faruk Khan, an AAP nominee had filed his nomination on September 27 last.
