87th session of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha begins today at Dergaon

GOPIKA BALLAV GOSWAMI SAMANNAY KHSETRA (Dergaon), Feb 6 - The atmosphere of greater Dergaon area is now filled up with devotional songs as a large number of delegates have arrived at the Missamara, Dergaon Dadhara Ahom Pather in Golaghat district to take part in the 87th annual session of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha (SSS) at Pandit Raichahab Gopikaballav Goswami Samannay Khsetra, Dadhara Ahom Pathar, Dergaon beginning from tomorrow.

The four-day-long mega event from February 7 to 10 will be started with a cleanliness drive in the morning. That will be followed by aasan activation at naatghar, main entrance inauguration, naamghar gate inauguration, among others.

The book fair and exhibition will be inaugurated by the Principal of DKD College, Dr Ranjit Kumar Bordoloi and it will be followed by the inauguration of special delegates� camp by Rebakanta Saikia. The central executive meeting will be held at 11 am. The Gobin Chandra Saikia memorial stage will be inaugurated by Golaghat DC Gaurav Bothra while the Pandit Sonaram Chutia memorial main pandal will be inaugurated by Golaghat SP Manabendra Debroy.

In the book releasing function to be chaired by Padadhikar Bhabendranath Deka, souvenir Bhakti Rasamrit with more than 500 pages and edited by chief editor Bodheswar Kakoti, will be released by noted litterateur, Dr Nagen Saikia. The selected articles of Srimanta, the mouthpiece of Srimanta Sankardeva Sangha and edited by Surendramohan Hazarika will be released by Dr Sanjiv Kumar Barkakati while the book Life and Talents of Pandit Gopikaballav Goswami, edited by Bodheswar Kakoti, will be released by Dr Ajit Baruah. The book being published by the reception committee on the occasion to attract the youths to the world of spirituality entitled, Srimanta Sankardeva aaru Yuva Prajanma, edited by journalist Sanjoy Kumar Hazarika, will be released by Dr Porag Thakur. Nine other books will also be released in the function. The reception committee headed by Pabitrapran Bora, Mrinal Saikia and Devanjan Bora as president, working president and secretary respectively along with 35 other sub-committees are working round-the-clock to make the event a success.

The general secretary of reception committee Devanjan Bora said that the site prepared for the session with 1.5 square kilometre area at the historic Dadhara Ahom Pathar, Dergaon along NH-37 has been named after the second Padadhikar of SSS, Pandit Raichahab Gopikaballav Goswami.
