IMPHAL, May 21 - A total of 86 candidates will contest the councilor seats while around 128 others will fight for the 56 ward seats in the Imphal Municipal Corporation (IMC) elections on June 2 next.
In Imphal West district, which has 20 wards, the ruling Congress and opposition BJP have put up 20 candidates each while CPI has three, Lok Jana Shakti two and Independent 17.
In Imphal East district with seven wards, Congress and BJP have put up six candidates each, CPI (12), LJP (1) and Independent (8).
