84th session of Srimanta Sankardev Sangha

NORTH LAKHIMPUR, Nov 12 � The lai-khuta � the ceremonial main post of the marquee for the 84th annual session of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha � scheduled to be held from February 5 to 8 next year, was installed at Dhakuwakhona on November 9. The installation ceremony was conducted by Rajanikanta Dutta, the Padadhikar of the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha along with its secretary, Babul Borah, and the president and the secretary of the reception committee, Amiya Kumar Handique and Parama Konwar respectively, on the Sarala Pathar off the Chari Kadiya river. The venue has been named Sri Sri Nara Hari Ata Samannay Kshetra.

Laying down the ceremonial post, the Padadhikar said that the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha was going to organise the session to unite the people irrespective of caste, creed and faith. He urged the public to make the meet a success by participating in it.

Babul Borah, the secretary of the Sangha, said that the Srimanta Sankardev Sangha is not a religious organisation, but a humanitarian one with an objective to work for the welfare of mankind and dedicated to nation building.

The meeting held on the occasion was attended by Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Minister of State for Sports and Youth Affairs, Dhakuwakhona MLA Naba Kumar Doley, the Chief Executive Member of the Mising Autonomous Council, Dr Ranoj Pegu and several dignitaries from Lakhimpur and Dhemaji districts.
