8 stranded seek help to return home

AIZAWL, May 26 - Eight teachers and students, who are stranded in Mizoram, today met Governor PS Sreedharan Pillai, seeking his help to arrange transportation for going home.

These stranded persons are residents of Arunachal Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan and Kerala. They have remained here as their earlier attempts to go home had failed due to suspension of flight and road transport services.

Assuring them of all help, the Governor said they would have to wait a little bit more to return home as domestic flights had just resumed in some sectors.

Meanwhile, Raj Bhavan sources said four of the stranded persons have been allowed to stay as guests at the Raj Bhavan since Monday. The Raj Bhavan also provided lunch to the stranded persons today.

Since the past week, the Raj Bhavan has been providing one meal to students stranded at the IIMC Hostel at Ramrikawn here, every day.

The Governor said the Mizoram Raj Bhavan, like the rest of the Raj Bhavans in India, is open to all citizens who need help.
