NAGAON, March 7 - Gearing up for the smooth conduct of the Assembly elections in 8 LACs of Nagaon and Kaliabor to be held on April 11, Nagaon DC Monalisa Goswami held a press meet on Saturday to brief the poll process in the region.
There are 11,51,906 electorates in Nagaon district and 10,830 have been identified as �D voters� in these constituencies. Nearly 6,000 officials will be engaged in polling duties, she said, adding that ADC Purabi Kunwar will be in charge of maintaining the Model Code of Conduct during elections.
There are 1,318 polling stations in Nagaon district, including 114 very sensitive, 410 sensitive and 21 critical polling stations in Nagaon district, the DC said. She also highlighted the Model Code of Conduct to be maintained by candidates during elections.
Attending the press meet, Nagaon SP Dilip Kumar Dey said that the law-and-order situation in the district is under control. There are 2,678 arm licence holders in Nagaon district, he added.
