GUWAHATI, Nov 27 � Police today achieved a major breakthrough arresting eight persons from different parts of the city allegedly involved in two of the recent shootout cases in Guwahati.
Police also recovered a 9mm pistol, three rounds of ammunition, a bike and a number of cell phones from their possession.
The arrested persons, according to Senior Superintendent of Police (City) Pradeep Chandra Saloi, were involved in two shootout incidents, one of which took place near Nursery and other the one behind GNRC Hospitals a couple of months back.
Those arrested have been identified as Ratul Kalita, Prasanta Kalita, Majinder Singh, Girin Saikia, Pranjal Deka, Utpal Kalita, Deepak Das and Tarun Das.
Tarun Das is an employee of the distributing firm of Coca Cola.
