8 from Karbi Anglong honoured by Asam Sahitya Sabha

DIPHU, Feb 8 - Asam Sahitya Sabha, the apex literary body of Assam honoured several prominent personalities of Karbi Anglong with awards of excellence recently. The literary body conferred awards on eight people of this district along with some other awardees of Assam for their excellence and contribution in different fields during its 75th biennial conference at Sualkuchi on Monday.

The recipients of the Asam Sahitya Sabha award are Executive Engineer of Flood Control Department and serving under the control of KAAC Miji Kro, Nirmala Teronpi, Kache Teronpi, Lirminta Rongpipi, Nirmali Terangpi, Longhup Rongpi, Ruptalyn Ingtipi and Piya Basumatary for their service in different areas of society.

Miji Kro was honoured for his contribution in the field of sports as an excellent organiser and for heading a professional football conservatory called Karbi Anglong Morning Star Football Academy at Diphu. Kache Teronpi received the award for winning medals during the national masters� games, Ruptalyn Ingtipi for being the first Karbi to work as an Air Traffic Controller, Piya Basumatary for wining gold in Judo, Lirminta Rongpipi for her achievement in fashion and style.
