The police, working on specific information that criminal elements had entered Roing to commit robbery at the banks in the township, had on Saturday set up a naka at Meka Tinali to check the movement of vehicles in the township.

During the course of naka checking, at 5.15 pm, 10 persons, including five travelling by an Alto car bearing registration number AS-01-JC-6876 and the other five on three motorcycles ran through the naka despite being stopped by the police.

The five persons in the car fleeing towards Shantipur were followed and apprehended by the police team near the Shantipur check gate. The three bikes fleeing towards Bomjir were followed by the team led by SP SK Sain and were intercepted at the Bomjir bridge at around 6 pm.
