7th Economic Census flagged off in Sonitpur

TEZPUR, Sept 26 - Deputy Commissioner Narsing Pawar flagged off the 7th Economic Census in Sonitpur district recently.

The 7th Economic Census is being conducted by the Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation ( MoSPI) in the district simultaneously with the rest of the country. During the census, door-to-door survey of all households and commercial establishments will be conducted on a mobile application developed for data capture, validation, report generation and dissemination.

The Common Service Centre� e-Governance Services India Limited has been entrusted with the work of field-level enumeration and first level supervision with an android app.

Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner Narsing Pawar stated that the economic census is an integral part of developmental planning process.

A District Level Coordination Committee (DLCC) has been constituted for the purpose with Deputy Commissioner as chairman, CEO, zila parishad, General Manager, District Industries and Commerce Centre and District Information and Public Relations Officer as members and Deputy Director, Economics and Statistics as Member Secretary.

District Development Commissioner Farouk Alam and ADC KK Sarma, Inspector, Economics and Statistics Office, Sachindra Kumar Bora, Field Officers, National Sample Survey Office, Lom Patir and Amarjyoti Borah, DM, DITEC, Bedabrata Goswami, DM, CSC-SPV, Ashish Tamuli and Dipankar Tamuli were present in the meeting.
