79th foundation day of State Museum tomorrow

GUWAHATI, April 19 - The Directorate of Museums, Assam is observing the 79th foundation day of the Assam State Museum and 26th foundation day of the Indian Art History Congress on April 21 along with the final outcome of Archive and Museum Fellowship under the aegis of the India Foundation for Arts (IFA), Bengaluru.

Arundhati Ghosh, Executive Director, IFA, will deliver the inaugural lecture �Gaps, Erasures, Silences: The Art that provokes history�, an official release said.

On the occasion, three thematic exhibitions-cum-installations will be showcased on various themes. The thematic exhibitions are (i) �Museums are closed at night� to be curated by Professor Mriganka Madhukaillya, (ii) �Bramanising the Brahmaputra� by Shubhasree Purkayastha and (iii) �Integrating Spaces: Naga Realm� by Sayantan Maitra Boka.

The first two exhibitions will run till April 28 and the last one will continue till May 31. They had carried out different exhibitions, lecture series and screening of documentary film at the State Museum throughout 2017 and the present ones will be the culmination of the project, which is a collaborative venture of IFA and the Assam State Museum to strengthen and promote heritage education.
