BARPETA, Oct 21 - Polling for 44 Jania Assembly Constituency in Barpeta district passed of peacefully today. Polling was completed in almost all the polling stations at 5 pm the stipulated time for close of the polling exercise.
A total of 79.08 % of voters out of the total 1,87,988 exercised their franchise in the election.
However, the polling percentage is not likely to increase much further. There are nine candidates in the election but the battle is likely to be a straight one between the Congress and the AIUDF.
