JORHAT, Aug 25 - Seventy-eight people were found Covid-19 positive in Jorhat district on Tuesday thereby increasing the total number of positive cases in the district to 4531.
A district administration official informed on Tuesday evening that all 78 positive cases were without travel history and 18 among them were from Jorhat town.
The total number of active cases in the district on Tuesday was 1605, the official added.
Excise dept drive: Excise department personnel on Tuesday carried out a drive against illicit liquor at Malowpathar, Bogoriguri and Terimeri areas on the north-western outskirts here.
Over 450 litres of raw materials, 10 litres of illicit liquor were destroyed in the drive and two apparatus used to produce illicit liquor were seized by the Excise team, the district administration official stated.
Stolen vehicles found: Meanwhile, a police team of Lahdoigarh Police Outpost on the eastern outskirts of Jorhat recovered two stolen two-wheelers (a motorcycle and a scooty) from Moubandha and Chenijan Pohugarh areas on the western and eastern outskirts of Jorhat respectively.
A police source disclosed that five persons have been arrested in connection with the case.
