DHUBRI, July 29: As many as 71 heads of cattle were seized by a joint team of Agomoni PS and Chagolia OP on Saturday night in Chagolia. Two persons were arrested in this connection.
The accused have been identified as Moinul Haque of Pokalagi village and Ashraful Haque of Choto Dighaltari village under Golakganj PS in Dhubri district.
A case has been registered at Golakganj PS under sections of the IPC and Prevention of Cruelty to the Animals Act.
As many as 156 heads of cattles have been seized by Dhubri police across the district recently.
Meanwhile, a police team led by DSP(HQ) Trinayan Bhuyan on Sunday arrested one cattle smuggler named Jahinur Islam from Madhusoulmari Part I village under Gauripur PS.
Further search and raids are being planned, said police sources.
