70 new COVID-19 cases detected in Arunachal

ITANAGAR, July 26 - COVID-19 cases in Arunachal Pradesh continue to surge with 70 more persons testing positive for the virus on Saturday, taking the State�s overall tally to 1,126.

According to a bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services here last night, 36 COVID-19 patients were discharged after they recovered from the disease. With this, the number of discharged patients across the State has gone up to 428. The State currently has 695 active cases and three fatalities.

Of the 70 new positive cases, 37 were detected in the worst-affected Itanagar Capital Complex, which has a total of 619 cases, including 402 active and 216 discharged cases besides one casualty.

Twelve cases were reported from Changlang followed by six from Tirap, four each from Papum Pare and Tawang, two each from East Siang and Lohit, and one each from Lower Siang, Siang and West Siang districts.

All six cases in Tirap are Assam Rifles personnel who were under quarantine. Of the four cases in Tawang, three are BRTF personnel and a returnee from Itanagar. Three out of four cases in Papum Pare are ITBP personnel while the fourth case is a civilian from Chiputa village under Doimukh circle.

As per the bulletin, 67 cases were asymptomatic and three symptomatic. Of the 36 discharged cases, nine are from Itanagar Capital Complex, seven each from Lower Subansiri and Changlang, six from Namsai, four from Lower Dibang Valley and three from East Siang district.

Mizoram Correspondent adds: Mizoram�s tally for COVID-19 remained 361 with no fresh case reported during the last 24 hours. No positive case was detected from 251 samples tested at Zoram Medical College, an official statement said on Sunday. Of the total 361 cases in Mizoram, 141 are active.

As many as 141 of the total active cases belong to Border Security Force, Assam Rifles, National Disaster Response Force and Army, which accounts for 79.21 per cent. Positive cases among civilians constitute 20.79 per cent. With 183 recovered cases, Mizoram�s recovery rate is 50.69 per cent.
