7 young entrepreneurs from NE win national awards

GUWAHATI, Nov 11 - The Union Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) honoured seven young entrepreneurs from the North East with the National Entrepreneurship Awards, 2019 in New Delhi on Saturday. In total, there were 36 national awardees from across the country, an IIT release said.

The awardees from the North East were Rida Gatphoh (Meghalaya), Bandabiang Dewkhaid (Meghalaya), Geetashori Yumnam (Manipur), Thokchom Reena Luwang (Manipur), Alemoon Nessa (Assam), Kashisho Chishi (Nagaland), and Subhra Saikat Roy (Manipur).

They were presented with the awards at the Pravasi Bharatiya Kendra in New Delhi.

The awards were conferred in the presence of Dr Mahendra Nath Pandey, Minister for Skill Development and Entrepreneurship; Dr KP Krishnan, secretary in the Ministry of SDE; and Jyotsna Sitling, joint secretary in the Ministry of SDE.

The award consists of Rs 5 lakh in cash, a certificate and a trophy. This time, out of 12 regions, the North East including Sikkim secured the highest number of awards.

For the second time, IIT Guwahati � Technology Incubation Centre (IITG-TIC) was assigned as the regional implementing partner institute, with the core IITG-TIC team consisting of chairperson Prof Konjengbam Darunkumar Singh, and regional programme coordinator Himujjall Sarmah.
