JORABAT, April 17 - In a shameful incident, a 7-year-old girl was reportedly molested at a construction site in New Market area of Sonapur, just 300 metres from the Sonapur Police Station early this morning.
A Bihu function was on when around 3 am, the girl was taken by the two security guards of Sonapur New Market to the second floor of the under-construction building nearby. This aroused suspicion among some persons who were witness to the development. Soon they informed the police. The girl was rescued in a half naked condition by the residents along with police.
An FIR was later filed by the girl�s parents. Police have registered a case under POSCO Act and apprehended Dhiren Rongpi (55) and Jiten Rongpi (53), the two security guards. The security guards, however, have not accepted the charges and said that they took the girl for her safety, deciding to hand her over to her parents in the morning. The duo were produced in the court today and later sent to jail.
